Set up Great British Energy, a publicly-owned clean power company, to cut bills for good and boost energy security, paid for by a windfall tax on oil and gas giants.

The Great British Energy Act received Royal Assent in May 2025, formally establishing the company. It is headquartered in Aberdeen with Juergen Maier as Chair. A strategic plan was published in September 2025, targeting 15 GW of clean energy generation and storage by 2030 and aiming to mobilise £15 billion in private finance. GBE has already begun backing distributed solar projects on schools and hospitals. An Investment Fund is scheduled to launch in Summer 2026.
